El Dorado Veteran Resource Office information

We are seeking people who are interested in volunteering at the new EL DORADO VETERAN RESOURCES office (EDVR) located at the Veterans Memorial Building, 130 Placerville Drive, Placerville, upper level, which is opening November 13th! Our motto is “To Honor & Empower”. The intention for EDVR is to aid veteran/military families with whatever they need of, including but not limited to, food, clothing, gasoline, bus passes, community referrals, information, specialized help, etc., without creating dependency. We want to work with community partners rather than duplicate existing efforts. We are very eager to expand our team in order to better serve veterans in El Dorado County!

Here are some things we want you to know up front:

Office hours will be Monday-Friday 9:00am – 12:00pm & 1:00pm – 4:00pm.

We need volunteers who are committed& trustworthy team players; and who are able to commit to a minimum of one 3-hour shift per week (multiple shifts is okay!).

Volunteers need to be active listerners, and not overly talkative, opinionated, or judgmental. It is preferable for volunteers to work two people to a shift, but not always necessary.

Volunteers are not expected to provide mental health care or any other professional service; Confidentiality is of utmost importance: what happens at EDVR stays at EDVR.

EDVR will provide a 2-hour volunteer training session.

There are three types of volunteers:

  • Level One: Application only

Requirements: Training as required (free), computer skills a plus

Tasks: front desk, filing, phones, inventory, keep resource list current, and other duties as needed

  • Level Two: Application + background check at request of EDVR (reimbursable fee)

Requirements: Training as required (free), computer literate

Tasks: front desk, access to confidential files, supervise distribution of goods, intake interviews, ongoing development of cooperative community relationships, and other duties as needed

  • Transportation Only: Application + background check / no minimum shift requirement

Requirements: DMV check & individual liability insurance a must

Tasks: Driving veterans to medical and other appointments, i.e. Mather VA or local doctors

    • If you would like to join the team, please submit an application for consideration using one of the three options below:
